Board Members
Mohamad Shaaf, MBA, PhD and Susan Hassed, PhD, CGC
Mohamad and Susan are the founding members of the Foundation that was incorporated in 2021 and received 501(c)3 designation in 2022.
Mohamad began his residential rental business in 1990 as a side job while on faculty at the University of Central Oklahoma. When he and Susan married, they continued and grew the business. During their life together, they discovered that they both had concerns about homelessness and those who were living at the margins of society. Through the residential rentals they came to see that many single mothers were struggling to raise their children in a safe home in good repair. Many of their long-term tenants are single mothers who have not seen a rent increase during the years they have been renting.
Mohamad is an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Central Oklahoma, an empirical research-analyst and has published on a variety of economic issues in professional journals, using Artificial Intelligence, Dynamic Programing, and Econometric Models. His scholarly work and recent articles can be found on Google Scholar.
Susan retired from her position as the Director of the Genetic Counseling Program and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2018. Her scholarly work can be found on Google Scholar. She now manages the residential rental property business that she and Mohamad have built. She also spends her time making art via photography and sculpture (ironwood-art.net).
